Adventure High 0.40 is being uploaded now for the patron release. Hoping that this update manages to make up for the smaller update in 0.39 due to the hurricane. A new party member with a unique spell type has been added to the game; in addition you can now enslave two new characters. Here's a full list of the new features in this update:
- 2 monsters added.
- 2 floors added to the dungeon.
- 1 scene added for Reese (Must reach Floor 16, but not enter the hidden path).
- Reese can be recruited into party.
- Copy spells added for Reese.
- 1 scene added to Mysterious Revenge plotline.
- Wooded area (inside barrier) added to the right of the Lake.
- Bad end for losing to Flower Girl added.
- Personality Change Sequences added for Reese
- Living Room added to player's house.
- Kitchen added to player's house.
- Art for Monster Shop updated.
- 2 Monster Hunting quests added. (can only do one or the other)
- 3 scenes added to Eric Suspicion plotline, with art by Caveman Doodles for one path.
- Intel on Eric added.
- 1 spell added for Dan/Rosa
- Buff personality Ms. Rack avatar added for updated avatars
- All personality change sequences added for Eric
- Play scene for Mindless Eric added
- Play scene for Twin Eric Added
- Play scene for Normal Eric Added
- Play scene for Country Eric Added
I have 2 questions right off the bat:
ReplyDelete"Eric suspicion plotline" is somehow related to enslaving Erin, I take it? (Good thing I have a savefile with her as my slave and no one else. Don't ask. Long story.)
How come we can only do one or the other on the Monster Hunting quests? Will the other one get taken down if you don't choose it or something?
Well, at least we got 2 new floors and 2 new monsters.
"1 scene added for Reese"... Why do I get the feeling I've already seen Reese? Meh, might just be me.
Oh hey, larger house! Finally! (Kidding. Still nice to see).
Yeah, he gets suspicious if while doing the quest Erin has a different personality.
DeleteYou can only do one of the two quests because you get a choice between two quests, which is going to be a recurring thing for future quests; a choice between Erin's "fun" quests, and Eric's more profitable/practical ones. With your choice affecting their opinions of you.
So basically, if I want money, I should go with Eric.
DeleteIf I don't care (or want some more fun times), Erin is the better option.
Good to know.
SacredHell sez:
Delete> (Good thing I have a savefile with her as my slave and no one else. Don't ask. Long story.)
You know, Doug, with a game with such a non-linear story, maybe having more than 3 saving slots (or an integral save-to-file capability, for those who don't know how to locate a .sol savefile) might eventually be a real need.
Yeah, I need to make a save system that allows for custom named saves but I haven't figured out a good way to input text for it in stencyl.
Delete>"fun" quests
DeleteSome input.
After extensive re-testing, that one turned out to be less fun than expected. As in, there was no bonus for the player (other than watching the monstergirl graphic, which you are bound to do anyways).
You mentioned you plan to eventually include sexy scenes with the captured monsters. You really should. Even if you do not yet have art for them - with your top-tier writting skills and quality, even a text-only amusing and sexy scene with just the MC's and Erin's portraits would be a desirable reward for a player.
Yeah, the rewards are not apparent because I didn't have time to write them yet. As you do more of Erin's quests though, your relationship with her will grow and unlock new play scenes related to monsters at the ranch. Eric's quests on the other hand will be more profitable most of the time.
Delete>twin Eric
ReplyDeleteTell me this DOES involve sex-change magic
It does
DeleteUnrelated question, Doug:
ReplyDeleteDo you have any plans for a "help Cassandra and Sarah talk it up" branch for the Heroic plotline? Asking because that's an heroic enough thing to do, but currently you can only have them make up (or out) if Cassandra is enslaved.
Yeah, I am planning on that plotline being completable without enslaving either of them. It will take longer though, as without the ability to force Cassandra to tell you what her problem is it will take her longer to come around to it on her own.
DeleteWell, since she behaves like a 4th grader (MC dixit), maybe just daring her to and calling her chickend if she doesnt might work ;-D
Deleteso when you said this was going to be a big update, you actually meant conquest that game no ones cared about was getting an big update
ReplyDeleteConquest is getting an update? Cool, I've waited forever. While I still like AH more due to sheer amount of content, I think Conquest fits my tastes better. Now you know that at least 1 person cares.
Deletethe update list for 0.38 was longer than this list by number of lines; but a lot of things added to that update were fairly easy to do. If you look at the content in this update I added two new slaves, including personality change sequences for both of them, two floors of dungeon, and a new party member. All of which are major time consuming additions which I normally am only able to fit one or two of into a single update.
DeleteThe new art for Conquest has not subtracted from progress on Adventure High; I had some art made for it while I was working on catching up on writing scenes to use the art that has been made while I was evacuated. I have not done any writing or coding on Conquest during the cycle; I do the coding and writing for it during the bug fixing part of AH's dev cycle which is why updates for it tend to take a lot longer.
Persistent bug: Funtime Sarah scene STILL auto-chooses first option when skipping, in all its option branches.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I take that there are future planned Reese plotlines involving her not being a slave? (Which brings me back to the "three savefiles is too little" point, but that's another matter).
Correction: auto-chooses SECOND option in the second branch (the no-fun-allowed "no more magical dress" option).
DeleteBug. With Val and Reese in my party, Reese's spell icons aren't fixed, but flash betwen several others (the mistery book, Val's grass fist, etc.)
ReplyDeletenow that I'm at that, question: it's possible in this version to recruit Reese without enslaving?
DeleteYep!
DeleteMysterious Revenge: Get the Contract and have Reese sign it (from the menu). Reese (Female) will now join your party.
General: Go to floor 16, do NOT enter the Hidden Path. Instead, head back to school. A scene triggers in which you see Reese about to enter Dr. Tiff's office. Use Boost and he'll ask if he can join you. Accept and Reese (male) joins.
How do you get the contract?
DeleteDon't enslave Jane.
DeleteDo the Ashley plotline until you beat the Berserker in her mind.
Speak to Jane and she'll present a contract.
Don't sign it and she'll leave.
Once she does, steal it.
You now have a contract!
Thanks. Hadn't done the "don't sign it" part before.
DeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteI just noticed. I got that "Recruit (make) Reese" scene with a savegame BEFORE the misterious revenge plotline. I wonder if it'll be possible to recruit Resse as male and have the revenge shenanigans anyways, and if so, if his portrait does turn into female at the right time...
DeleteReese's spells alternate between several spell icons deliberately; because his/her spells can be anything, so flipping between several icons seemed to fit the idea of a spell that can be changed into other spells.
DeleteLet's just say it doesn't work as intended - to me at least, it just looks confusing.
DeleteAlso, another bug: overlaping text in magic screen. Pic related.
https://imgur.com/a/M3lAm
(Notice the screencaps after the first one: you get several extra text overlay bug reports as a freebie.)
Further bug (typo): Trip spell text description: "delaying thier (sic) next action" should be "delaying THEIR next action".
Sugestion: while it makes sense IRL to enter a home by the hall and then go to the bedroom, in the game it would be easier to enter and exit the bedroom directly, as it's the most used part of the house, and reach the other areas from there.
ReplyDeleteBug: Living Room statue Eric doesn't appear: it gets removed from teh game as a result.
ReplyDeleteJust confirmed that Statue!Eric dissapears from game no matter if flesh or turned into marble.
DeleteAlso, another bug: "Play with" scenes for Mindless and Tough Sarah don't show the doll joints.
Correction: "Play with" scenes for Doll Sarah in both Mindless and Tough personalities don't show the doll joints.
Delete(I can't believe it took me TWO DAYS to notice I had written that without mentioning the full thing)
I believe I have the statue problem fixed now. I'm going to try seeing about finding a solution for Sarah's doll form, since I'm guaranteed to pass the size limit for newgrounds next month there's no reason not to find a way to have a doll version of her other forms.
DeleteHave you tried transparent overlays with the joint lines?
DeleteBug: Mandatory twincest scene with Erin and Erin!Eric is missing ;-)
ReplyDelete(Yes, I *am* reporting this as a bug. Really!)
Reporting the same annoying, game-breaking, needs-to-be-solved ASAP bug
DeleteThere is one, you just didn't find it. ;)
DeleteOh you are a terrible tease...
DeleteHe is. I've tried every "play with" combination for both Erin and Erin!Eric for all Erin personalities with Eric as Erin!Eric, with no sucess. If it's hidden somewhere else, hint requested.
Delete(If it WAS meant to be accesed that way, know that it IS bugged - this version HAS a bug in another of Eric's "play with" scenes, see above, so we can't rule it out...)
The Erin/Eric scene is available.
DeleteFor those that can't find it:
During Eric's Suspicion plotline, get Intel on him.
Julia will hint that he's easily flustered. Hm...
Next, you need to have Debiliating magic: 300 proficiency, to be exact. This gives access to "Shrink".
Speak to Eric and use "Shrink" on him.
Once back in your room, during the line "Now, for you" (or something like that), use Boost on him.
Twincest inc.
Hrm, it doesn't let me use Shrink. After getting intel, Erin just pops out her breasts and hypnotizes him.
DeleteGot it. I had to cast Flirt before Shrink would work.
DeleteYes, I forgot to mention that. My fault!
DeleteAnother bug: I get the "thanks for capturing four plant girls" twice. Done with an old savegame with that quest already done (get the message anyways) and with a new game from start (get the message twice).
ReplyDeleteI had that reported to me earlier but I can't seem to find what is causing it. Still actively looking for the cause.
DeleteWhat do you do after you talk to Casandra about the stalker?
ReplyDeleteGo to the wooded area by the lake.
DeleteNothing is happening
DeleteYou need to reach floor 16 or deeper to trigger the next part in the forest.
DeleteOkay thanks. Is there any way to make the stalker a slave?
DeleteDo the Mysterious Revenge route until the end.
DeleteAfter Cass mentions being attacked, too, get to floor 16 and head to the Wooded Area (right side of the lake).
A scene occurs in which you get the chance to enslave Reese.
i cant get passed floor 16
ReplyDeleteThere is a hidden path in the water. If you haven't started the mysterious revenge plot line, when you go back to the school after entering floor 16, and had not found the path, a scene is in the hallway to give a hint about it.
Deletecan you please tell us when you will update the walktrough
ReplyDeleteFrom what I know, it's currently around 6 AM in his timezone.
DeleteFrom what I've seen, you can consider this a mini-walkthrough:
REESE (Female):
Do the Mysterious Revenge plotline until you get to the part where Cassandra remarks someone attacked her as well.
If you have the Contract (obtained by stealing it from Jane during the Ashley plotline), you can present it to Reese.
Note that you must have reached floor 16 for the final scene to trigger (which is in the wooded area next to the lake).
During that scene, you can give the Contract to Reese, who signs it and becomes a party member.
Otherwise, you can have Cassandra help you get a new slave by using Suppression at the end of that route.
For Male Reese, reach floor 16. Don't enter the hidden pathway. Instead, head back to school and a scene occurs. Use Boost on him and accept to allow him join the party.
Eric Suspicion:
Monster Hunting Quests. Enslave Erin and change her to any non-normal personality. Eric will get suspicious of Erin. You can either confront him without Intel (and enslave him that way) or you can speak to Julia for Intel.
Doing the latter allows you to use Shrink on him (needs 300 Proficiency in Debilibiating).
Back in the room, use Boost on him on the line "As for you" (or something similar) to have a Twincest scene happen.
If you enslave Eric, in his Normal personality, you can turn him into a statue by using Stoneskin on him during the Play With scene.
As for the hidden path on floor 16:
Head to the right side. 2nd panel from the top on the right side, go into the water.
The path is hidden, but you can navigate the entire way to the left side, allowing you to navigate to the top and reaching floor 17.
At which point can you cast shrink on Eric? Tried with 580 in debilitationg, got no result.
Deletealso
Eric Suspiction addenda:
You may also enslave Eric without Julia's help. Cast Confuse, then select "play dirty".
Casting Confuse without Julia's intel and not playing dirty afterwards gets you permabanned from the monster shop.
You may also cast Confuse *with* Julia's intel, which gets Eric out of your hair but doesn't enslave him (unsure if it's a bug)
Do you have access to the Shrink spell? It's unlocked at 300 Debilibating. Otherwise, try clearing your cache - worked for me.
DeleteIIRC, I went Flirt > Shrink (after getting Julia Intel) and he'd shrink, allowing me to use Boost on him later on in my room.
The problem was just that I was following the above steps, that lacked the "use flirt before shrink" step.
Deletealso, it might be interesting to check if you CAN recruit a male Reese and have it turn female, but don't have any savegame with the Cass & Sarah plotline started but Cassandra not having tried yet to use the potion (and the wait for those scenes puts me down a bit from the idea of redoing it from scratch). Do you have that savefile ready to try it yourself?
I don't have a savefile for that at the moment, but I'll go ahead and try it out regardless. I doubt it'd work, but still sounds like a fun thing to try out.
DeleteUPDATE: Okay, tried. (Why the fuck is there no damn Edit button?)
DeleteGot Sarah/Cass scenes to proc.
Went to floor 16, then back to school. Got Reese (using Boost on him).
Started Mysterious Revenge plotline at this point.
Saw it all the way through and enslave Reese at the end of it.
Result:
-Reese's icon (in the MC's room) was Male Reese.
-Changing Reese to Bikini or Mindless both still showed as Male Reese icon.
-Changing Reese to male and then back to female caused the icon to correctly show Female again.
Reese made no remark about knowing me (despite being in my party by that point).
So while it WORKS, nothing special happened. Oh well.
Yeah, I didn't have time in this update cycle to make the divergence in the path but decided not to block it off yet. Hopefully in the next update if you have met male Reese, it will lead to a different sequence of events when you accidentally potion him.
DeleteThanks, SH
DeleteDoug - I take that sequence of events will involve him misteriously dissappearing from the party, right?
DeletePlease make SARAH point his disappearance out for delicious irony
DeleteWill there be another way to cure Ashley?
ReplyDeleteYeah, there will be a way to cure her without Sarah's Mom later.
DeleteBeen meaning to ask (thanks for making me forget, brain. Fucking hell...)
ReplyDeleteIs there any specific reason you started posting updates on the 13th/20th? Looking at some of the older change logs, you seem to have posted them all around the month...
I started out releasing updates whenever I felt like I had enough content made for a new release; usually once every two months. Then after a while of making monthly updates I decided to stick to a specific release date. I picked the 20th to stick to for the public release, which made the patron release which is one week early the 13th.
DeleteMakes sense then.
DeleteYou means that I can enslave Eric? Including the M/M scenes of Eric?
ReplyDelete
