Demo coming out next week!

Today, I have finished the demo, and released it on Patreon. One of the Patreon rewards is early access to new versions of the game, so it will be available to anyone who pledges at least one dollar immediately.  The public release will be next Tuesday, February 3rd.

Features in the demo:

1: Interactive story through dialogue options.
2: One potentially enslave-able character.
3: Ability to directly control characters who trust you greatly, or have been enslaved.
4: A turn based battle system.

Upcoming features:

1: Ability to cast spells during conversations.
2: Ability to assign a spell learning focus to those who trust you greatly, or have been enslaved.
3: Ability to use magic to manipulate the personality of characters.
4: Ability to use magic to manipulate the appearance of characters.
5: Alternate costumes for the main character, and enslaved characters.
6: Multiple main story lines depending on key choices or your general behavior.

Battle Screen

Here is a screenshot from the battle screen as it is so far. I am trying to keep the system both flexible and fairly simple. Since the focus is on magic, I figure it would hold you back to have MP in this system. Instead, when you cast a spell, you need to pause to recover before casting another. More powerful spells will require longer wait times, meaning you will need to decide when you want more power, or when you want more flexibility in any given battle.

Alternate color here.

And finally, here are a couple screenshots from the non-combat scenes.

The Demo Man

While thinking of an appropriate enemy for the first battle of the game, I mentioned my ponderings on #HypnoHub, and though I got distracted immediately afterward, when I looked back I saw a fairly unanimous agreement that I should make an explosives wielding character for just the Demo. Then call him, the Demo Man.

Eh, why not? Here's the Demo Man.

Greetings

Hello, and welcome. This is the first post of the blog, so odds are good that if this is the top post, the blog is still under construction.

This is a blog for development updates on the Mind Control themed game I am working on, titled Adventure High. The game takes place in a school that trains new adventurers to use their magical gifts to prepare themselves to venture out into the world to rediscover lost artifacts, and expand civilization back to the way it was before magic became commonplace.

The main character, however, develops a bit of an odd gift. The gift of Control. It will be up to you, as the player, to decide how they will use this power. You can work to become a pure, strong hero, or attempt to take over the entire school one victim at a time. Or anything in between. The main focus in the game will be around choice and temptation.

Gameplay will be split between two major styles. In the school, the game will play like a visual novel, while within the dungeon it will play more like a turn based RPG. Your party members will normally act on their own free will, but if you decide you would rather be the one giving all the orders, you can always use your powers to take charge..

I am roughly halfway to completing the first playable demo. Stay tuned for more information.
